clean up genre canonicalization (#264)

- Canonicalization is disabled by default. (This prevents pyyaml from being a
  dependency if you don't use canonicalization.)
- Config value to set the tree file.
- Python style.
- Added YAML file to MANIFEST.in.
- Documentation.
